Frequently Asked Questions
What does this personality test measure?
It measures the five traits of the Big Five model — Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Openness, and Neuroticism — using the Mini-IPIP, a 20-item short scale drawn from the public-domain International Personality Item Pool (IPIP). See the methodology page for details.
Why do some questions feel like repeats?
That is by design. Each Big Five trait is measured by several differently worded items — including positively and negatively phrased pairs — so that inconsistencies in responding cancel out and accuracy improves. This is standard practice in personality inventories, including the Mini-IPIP. Just answer each one on first impression.
How long does it take?
Just 20 questions on a 5-point scale — about 2 to 3 minutes. Entering a name is optional.
Are my answers or results stored?
Not on our servers. Scoring happens entirely in your browser and your answers are never transmitted. They are saved only on your device so you don’t have to re-enter them next time, and you can delete them anytime with the “Reset answers” button. If you create a share link, the link URL contains your scores.
What does the 0–100 score mean?
It is your position on the response scale computed from your answers (0 = lowest possible responses, 100 = highest). It is not a percentile or a ranking against other people.
How accurate are the results?
The 20-item Mini-IPIP is widely used in research, but its brevity comes with limited precision, and answers can shift with mood and circumstances. Treat the results as a starting point for self-reflection.
How is this different from the compatibility test?
This page measures the personality traits of one person: you. Your five measured traits can then be carried into the compatibility test as the “You” column to analyze how you match with someone.
